Scaffolding was no longer the main sight on Brīvības Square. On 24 July 2001 in Rīga, the restored Freedom Monument was ceremonially unveiled after the main restoration works were completed; the honor guard returned to its base, and Raimonds Bulte, head of the Freedom Monument Restoration Fund, symbolically handed the monument over to the Latvian people. In her address, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga spoke directly beside the renewed monument — in the presence of granite, copper, and the gilded three stars.

The Freedom Monument was unveiled in 1935, and the 2001 ceremony followed several years of restoration supported by public donations. It was a highly visible moment in central Rīga — not new construction, but a careful return of the monument to public, ceremonial use.
